21 hours agoMONTREAL With negotiations progressing the deadline for a strike against VIA Rail Canada by the 2400 members of the Unifor union has been pushed back to 4 pm. Some services for Monday July 11 may be impacted. In voting by workers across Canada from June 20 to July 1 members of Unifor Council 4000 were 993 in favor of a strike while Unifor Local 100 members voted 994 in favor.

VIA Rail remains committed to reaching a fair and reasonable agreement said Martin R Landry. The strike was originally set to begin at 1201 am. If the union launches strike action VIA Rail will be forced to suspend all services across the country for the safety of its passengers.
